Tbilisi, September 6 (AVN) - Experts of the Turkish General Staff who arrived with a working visit in Georgia studied the former 137th Russian military base in Vaziani on the outskirts of Tbilisi on Thursday, a spokesman for the Defence Ministry said on Thursday.
The Turkish Defence Ministry helps set up conditions for stationing of the Georgian elite 11th motorised rifle brigade at the base. In late August Turkish specialists completed the development project of the brigade which envisages, in particular, the construction of infrastructure installations in the brigade's stationing areas. During the visit to Vazian the experts were also to choose a location for the brigade's transport repair base.
The visit schedule includes meetings with Major General Timur Loria, chief of the Georgian Defence Ministry rear department, and officials of the Land Forces command, as well as visits to several military repairing enterprises. The experts will team up with the ministry's leadership to define sources of financing the project.
The Turkish delegation includes a specialist who is to study the radiation level at the base.
