Severomorsk, Murmansk Region, September 7 (AVN) - Deep sea divers working on the hull of the sunk Kursk submarine replaced the broken saw overnight to Friday, a spokesman for the Northern Fleet headquarters told the Military News Agency.
The cable saw broke late on Thursday when divers were cutting off the Kursk's first compartment practically ruined by the blast, the spokesman said. The works restored early on Friday and specialists say that they will be completed on time.
The weather in the area of the operation remains stable. The wind strength is no more than 8m/s and sea swell is two points. The fleet's forecasters say that the weather is likely to change for the worse on the weekend. Nevertheless, the sea swell will not exceed four points, which will not hamper the underwater works.
