Moscow, September 7 (AVN) - The Argal patrol ship of the Magadan separate guard ships battalion has convoyed the detained Mys Dokuchayeva and Alexei Chirikov refrigerator trawlers to the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky port, a spokesman for the Russian Border Guard Service told the Military News Agency on Friday.
Both trawlers were sailing under the Russian flag, the spokesman said. The Mys Dokuchayeva was hailing from Nevelsk and the Alexei Chirikov from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. They did not obey to the border guards' order to stop and tried to escape from the Olyutorsky Gulf in the Bering Sea to the Kommodore Islands. The chase took over seven hours and ended only after an AN-72 Coaler border guard plane took off from the Yelizovo airfield and arrived at the site to help the pursuers.
Investigation into demonstrative disobedience to border guard service bodies is underway.
