KHANKALA. Sept 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Chechen rebels staged one blast and attacked police and Interior Ministry units 11 times on Wednesday, a spokesman for the ministry's department for Chechnya told Interfax-Military News Agency.
As a result two servicemen were injured and one of them later died in hospital, the spokesman said.
The police carried out 18 search and preventive operations in Chechnya on Wednesday. They checked 25,772 people and 16,104 vehicles and registered 620 administrative offences, including 133 passport rules violations.
Officers confiscated five assault rifles, eight grenade launchers, eight hunting rifles, 17 artillery and 24 mortar shells, 50 grenades, 4,119 small-arms cartridges and 1.8kg explosives. Besides, 17 illegal oil refineries and a home-made explosive device were eliminated.
Policemen of Grozny's Staropromyslovsky district found local residents Tadyev, 22, and Miayev, 19, guilty of blasting a UAZ jeep on June 20 this year. The blast killed two and injured one policeman.
