N. Caucasus military district chief to visit army corps, motorised rifle division

KRASNODAR, Southern European Russia. Sept 17 (Interfax-AVN) - North Caucasus Military District Commander Colonel General Gennady Troshev will work in units of the 67th army corps from Monday to Friday and later control a combat training in the 20th motorised rifle division, a spokesman for the corps headquarters said.

Troshev will go to Krasnodar and Maikop to check the reform of the corps which is to be disbanded by December 1 this year. Its reformed units will be transferred to the 58th general army headquartered in Vladikavkaz, while the 131st separate motorised rifle brigade will be made directly subordinate to the district headquarters and will continue training units for peacekeeping operations in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone.

While staying in the 20th division Troshev will supervise the command post exercise carried out by an airborne assault regiment. He will also check organisation of combat training in the Volgograd and Kamyshi garrisons.
