Putin's envoy visiting France, meeting officials

PARIS. Sept 18 (Interfax-AVN) -- Sergei Kiriyenko, chairman of the state commission on chemical weapons scrapping and President Vladimir Putin's envoy to the Volga federal district, started an official visit to France on Tuesday.

Kiriyenko will meet on Tuesday morning several French officials including Xavier de Villepin, chairman for the Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces of the Senate, Francois Hollande, first secretary of the ruling Socialist Party, and Michel Sapin, minister of civil defence and state reform who visited Nizhny Novgorod three months ago. The officials will negotiate on chemical disarmament.

On Tuesday afternoon the Russian delegation will hold consultations in the French Foreign Ministry. Later the delegation will meet Prime Minister Lionel Jospin and after that Kiriyenko will deliver a report in the institute of international affairs.
