Two of terrorists in U.S. attacks might have fought in Chechnya - Russian secret services

MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Brothers Nawar and Selim Al-Khazimi, who took part in the recent terrorist acts in the United States, might have been trained and fought in Chechnya, the Russian secret services believe.

"That cannot be excluded, but it is difficult to confirm their visit to Chechnya with documents because almost all the mercenaries came to Chechnya with false identification papers," an expert of the Russian Security Service has told Interfax.

A Saudi newspaper reported on Wednesday that the brothers, natives of Saudi Arabia, had fought for the Chechen rebels.

Two-thirds of the illegal armed units in Chechnya are made up of mercenaries from Arab countries, Tajiks, Pushtu, Turks, Albanians and representatives of other ethnic groups, the expert said.
