CHITA, Southern Siberia. Sept 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Major General Vladimir Bakin is appointed chief-of-staff and first deputy commander of the Siberian military district, a spokesman for the district headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
Bakin has already arrived in Chita and will be introduced to the personnel of the district's departments and services in a few days.
Bakin was born in the Amur region in 1953. He graduated from the Far Eastern higher general command college in 1975, Frunze Military Academy in 1986 and General Staff Academy in 1995. Bakin served at various posts in the Land Forces. He was appointed commander of the land and coastal forces and deputy Baltic Fleet commander on land and coastal forces in December 1999. Bakin was awarded the order for Service to Motherland in the Armed Forces and the order for Military Merits.
Bakin is supposed to be replaced at his previous post by Major General Boris Sokushev, chief-of-staff of the Baltic Fleet land and coastal forces.
