MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The chief Russian representative in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) said on Tuesday that he planned to present to the current PACE session documentary evidence of alleged crimes by Chechen rebels.
The session, which opened on Monday, is due to discuss the Chechen issue on Thursday.
Members of European parliaments will be shown a videotape made by Chechen rebels, Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Russian delegation to PACE, told Interfax. He said the tape showed torture, executions, brutal killings and rebels putting on Russian military uniforms before fighting Russian troops.
The attitude of European parliamentarians to the Chechen issue "has to a considerable extent changed toward greater pragmatism," Rogozin said. He said it has become obvious that terrorist centers around the world are interconnected. There are such centers in Chechnya as well, according to Rogozin.
