BISHKEK. Sept 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The Kyrgyz government is stepping up security in the country as the situation in Afghanistan deteriorates.
Prime Minister Kurmanbek Bakiyev on Wednesday chaired a closed session of the government at which border and customs services were told to be especially vigilant in railroad stations and airports, Kurmanbek Ramatov, head of the government's press service, told Interfax.
Bakiyev also ordered that the setting up of refugee camps be planned in anticipation of an inflow of refugees from Afghanistan.
