DUSHANBE. Oct 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Colonel Yuri Perminov, the new commander of the Russian 201st motorised rifle division in Tajikistan, has taken office.
Sources at the division's headquarters told Interfax that on Tuesday morning the new commander was introduced to the officers of the headquarters.
His predecessor, Major General Valentin Orlov, who led the division since August 1997, was promoted to a higher post in a military district in Russia.
Perminov, a graduate of the Academy of the General Staff, was formerly a deputy commander of the division.
