7 policemen, locals killed by rebels in Chechnya's Shali district in recent days

GROZNY. Oct 2 (Interfax-AVN) - On Tuesday final reports arrived about Chechen police officers and local residents killed and wounded in recent rebel attacks on the villages of Shali, Serzhen-Yurt and Avtury.

Acting chief of the district administration Abdula Sapiyev told Interfax that seven people were killed, including deputy police chief Sharpudi Zakriev, police officers Khambulat Eimev and Khamzat Barzayev, an officer from the military commandant's office Movladi Yakhikhanov and three local women.

Police and army servicemen Shuddi Shabazgiriyev, Sultan Zakriyev and Badrudi Askhabov, and also a local woman, Ramnat Abkayeva, were wounded.

Rebels burned down the court building in Shali and the administration building in Serzhen-Yurt and seized several firearms. The rebel losses are not known at the moment.
