PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. Oct 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Pacific Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Gennady Suchkov has completed a check in the Kamchatka troops group, a spokesman for the group headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
The commission led by Suchkov operated in the group's units and vessels since September 28 analysing all cases of traumatism and deaths of servicemen that occurred this year. According to the spokesman, commanders of units and vessels who did not pay enough attention to combat service security will be reprimanded in the near future.
The commission was also accompanied by officials of the Moscow mayor's office. They met the group command, discussed co-operation and visited a submarine. A treaty on co-operation and help provision might be signed between the fleet and the Moscow mayor's office in the near future.
The forthcoming expansion of co-operation with the mayor's office is related to the recent appointment of Suchkov, the spokesman said. The vice admiral previously served at the Black Sea Fleet which has close long-standing ties with Moscow.
