Scouts of Western border guard department return from Chechnya without losses

VORONEZH, South-western European Russia. Oct 3 (Interfax-AVN) - A separate group of special intelligence organic to the Western regional border guard department returned from a service trip to Chechnya on Wednesday, department spokesman Yuri Romanovsky told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The scouts were sent to Chechnya to reinforce the Itum-Kale border guard detachment, Romanovsky said. They spent three months on one of the most dangerous and important sections of the Russia-Georgia border being engaged in tapping the most likely rebel routes.

According to Romanovsky, the scouts spend most of the service trip in raids and combing of mountains. They found and destroyed several well-masked caches with arms and ammo.

The spokesman stressed that the border guards had accomplished all assigned missions and returned to their stationing areas without losses.
