GROZNY. Oct 4 (Interfax-AVN) - One policeman was killed and three others were wounded when a vehicle carrying policemen hit a mine in Grozny's Oktyabrsky district on Wednesday, the Russian Interior Ministry department for Chechnya told Interfax on Thursday.
Three similar incidents have occurred in Chechnya over the past 24 hours. Police and Interior Ministry troops positions have come under fire nine times, but no one has been injured.
One of the incidents occurred in the village of Gekhi in Urus-Martan district, when two local residents offered armed resistance to policemen who were trying to arrest them. The two suspects were killed in the skirmish. A large amount of ammunition and weapons were discovered in their house, the department said.
