Baikonur cosmodrome getting ready to launch military satellite

MOSCOW. Oct 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Combat crews of the Space Troops have started the final stage of preparations for the launch of the Proton-K booster rocket carrying a Kosmos satellite that is scheduled for Saturday, the Space Troops press service said on Thursday.

The Kosmos spacecraft will function in the interests of the Defence Ministry. It is to lift off from the Baikonur cosmodrome at 20.45 Moscow time (1645 GMT), a press service official told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The rocket was installed on Launcher 24 on Wednesday. Combat crews are mocking the booster's fuelling, testing its on-board systems and checking some systems of the launcher.

According to data from the Space Troops command post, the combat crews are performing all operations as scheduled.
