Full mobilisation likely to be announced in Abkhazia -- deputy DM

TBILISI. Oct 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Full mobilisation may be announced in Abkhazia is possible in case the Georgian-Chechen units which invaded the Georgiyevskoye village of the Gulripsh district are reinforced, Abkhazian Deputy Defence Minister Vyacheslav Ankvab told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.

At present the Abkhazian army equipped with artillery and ordnance is gouging out rebels from the village. "Intensive shootout is underway," Ankvab said.

The Russian peacekeepers detained four vehicles with arms in the western part of Georgia. The vehicles were heading for the village.

An Abkhazian officer was killed in clashes near the village on September 28, Ankvab added. According to him, rebels, who use only small arms, also suffer losses but their number is unknown.
