MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The Moscow police force is tightening security in view of the U.S. strikes on Afghanistan, city police chief Major General Vladimir Pronin told Interfax on Monday.
He said security will be tightened at public utility facilities. Checks of housing and transport companies will also continue.
On Monday morning, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and Pronin discussed the situation arising in relation to the bombing of terrorist bases in Afghanistan, and mapped out steps to prevent possible acts of terrorism and sabotage in the city.
The mayor's office urged Moscow citizens to be more vigilant.
