SUKHUMI. Oct 9 Interfax-AVN) - Fighting continued all night on Monday between the Abkhazian army and Chechen and Georgian rebels in the village of Naa, Gulripsh district of Abkhazia, the defense minister of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia, Vladimir Mikanba, has told Interfax.
He did not name the losses on either side.
Earlier Abkhazian Vice President Valery Arshba told Interfax that rebels entered the village of Naa Monday night and shot dead 14 civilians.
Seven Abkhazian servicemen and about 20 civilians have died since the middle of last week in Abkhazia in clashes with Chechen and Georgian gunmen.
