SUKHUMI. Oct 10 (Interfax-AVN) - The press group of the collective peacekeeping forces of the Commonwealth of Independent States informed Interfax on Wednesday that "the situation remains complicated in the Kodori gorge, as armed clashes are being observed at a distance of up to 17 kilometers from the peacekeepers' posts in the Kodori gorge."
But the situation in the zone controlled by the CIS peacekeepers is stable, and no changes have taken place either on the Georgian or Abkhazian side, the press group said.
The situation is quiet in the vicinity of the peacekeepers' posts, and contact is being permanently maintained with them, it said.
