MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said that Russia will make its airspace available only to transport planes of the anti-terrorist coalition. Providing Russia's airspace to military planes is out of the question, the Russian defense minister told the Federation Council on Wednesday.
Ivanov also stressed that participation of the Russian military in any action on the territory of Afghanistan is impossible.
The Northern Alliance does not need Russian instructors, because their military "know old Soviet military techniques better than our [military]," he said.
The Northern Alliance has been using these military techniques for twenty years, and therefore "there are no problems and there can be no problems with the training of the Northern Alliance's military," the minister said.
