GROZNY. Oct 10 (Interfax-AVN) - General Vladimir Moltenskoi, the new commander of the unified federal group in Chechnya, settled the conflict in the village of Prigorodnoye on Wednesday. Residents of that village had blocked traffic on the highway connecting Grozny and Shali for four days.
The general met with a delegation from the rally's participants and assured them that appropriate measures will be taken based on all facts of deaths of local residents.
Vsevolod Chernov, the republic's prosecutor, promised the same.
Shakhid Dzhamaldayev, the head of the administration of the Grozny rural district, told Interfax that Prigorodnoye residents believed the commander and agreed to open the road.
The road is already being cleared of concrete blocks and car wreckage used to create obstructions. The first passenger buses and trucks carrying construction materials have already driven there, Dzhamaldayev said.
