SUKHUMI. Oct 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Six rebels who had crossed into Abkhazia from Georgia, were killed and two others detained as a result of a clash in Abkhazia's Kodori gorge on Wednesday evening, Abkhazian Deputy Defense Minister Garry Kupalba told Interfax on Wednesday.
He said the detained rebels had confessed that they had been trained by Arab instructors in Georgia's Pankisi gorge and that their training subsequently continued on the Georgian State Security Ministry's base in the locality of Tsinubani. In Tsinubani the rebels were equipped with uniforms and were given additional weapons, and were transported to the Abkhazian border by the Georgian State Security Ministry's motor transport and by the Georgian Defense Ministry's helicopters.
