YAROSLAVL. Oct 12 (Interfax-AVN) - The Georgian parliament's decision to have Russian peacekeepers withdrawn from Abkhazia could complicate the situation in the region even more, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov has said.
Speaking at a press conference in Yaroslavl on Friday, Kasyanov, however, said he is certain that the understanding of the fact that terrorism should be fought in coordination will prevail.
Russia "has always stated its desire to coordinate its activity in solving problems existing in Georgia," he said.
Moreover, Kasyanov said, the Georgian leadership admitted the presence of guerillas in Abkhazia.
"Georgia is our neighbor, and we cannot remain indifferent to problems arising there, including social economic ones," the Russian premier said.
Admitting that the situation in Georgia "is getting more and more tense, which is very unpleasant," Kasyanov noted that the problems in the neighboring country "worry and alarm us."
