KHANKALA. Oct 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Rebels have attacked federal positions and installations 56 times in Chechnya this week, including 25 times in Grozny, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
The highest rebel activity was registered in the Leninsky district of Grozny, the town of Argun, the Shali and Vedeno districts of the breakaway republic.
Federal units have carried out 167 search operations, eliminating 11 rebels and detaining 70 suspects. During those operations servicemen confiscated 117 small-arms pieces, 76 grenade launchers, 65kg of explosives and 157,169 cartridges.
