Four drunk submariners capture on-duty officer overnight to Friday

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. Oct 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Four drunk sailors captured an officer on board a Russian submarine and declared him hostage overnight to Friday, a source in the Kamchatka group headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The incident took place on a diesel submarine which belongs to the group's 182nd submarine brigade.

According to the source, the submarine's crew stayed in a coastal barrack, and four sailors who remained onboard the submarine started a revelry. The on-duty officer who found them was beaten and his table gun was taken from him.

"All night long the sailors derided at the officer and threatened him with a gun. When they subered up they found the submarine was going to be attacked and gave up," the source added.

A source in the Federal Security Service department in the Kamchatka group confirmed the incident but refused to comment on the matter.

The group's command led by Vice Admiral Konstantin Sidenko is investigating the incident.
