Russian units in Chechnya having 3-month stock of food before winter

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Oct 17 (Inerfax-AVN) - The leaders of the agricultural enterprises of the North Caucasus military district will hold a conference in Rostov-on-Don on Wednesday, a spokesman for the district headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

Head of the Russian Armed Forces agricultural department Major General Fyodor Druzhinin will take part in the session, which is intended to discuss an uninterrupted supply of fresh vegetables, meat and milk products to the garrisons of the unified federal group in the North Caucasus.

According to General Druzhinin, units and formations of the group get 82 percent of the required amount of potatoes and 87 percent of the required amount of fresh meat. Food is still transported to the army and district storehouses in accordance with the plan approved earlier by the North Caucasus military district commander.

Food stocks in units of the 42nd guard motorised rifle division permanently stationed in Chechnya are intended for three months. It is a regular situation because supplies to some garrisons located high in mountains will be extremely difficult in winter, said the spokesman.
