Police, servicemen detain 17 suspected rebels in Grozny's Zavodskoi district

GROZNY. Oct 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Officers of the Zavodskoi district police department teamed up with federal servicemen to carry out a wide-scale search operation in the district on Sunday, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry department for Chechnya told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The federals checked all enterprises and stocks as well as abandoned buildings. As a result 17 suspected rebels were detained and three of them have been proven members of rebel groups. The others are being identified.

Policemen and servicemen took from caches exposed in the district two landmines made on the basis of 82mm shells, a 120mm artillery shell, five grenades for under-barrel grenade launchers and some 120 cartridges. Two hijacked vehicles were found during the operation as well.
