KIEV. Oct 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Amendments to the law "Concerning Alternative (Non-military) Service" have been submitted to the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (parliament), a spokesman for the parliament administration said on Tuesday.
The amendments envisage reduction of the alternative service term to 12 months, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency. A bill providing for reduction of the active-duty service term to 12 months in the Army and 18 months in the Navy was submitted to the parliament earlier.
The current term of alternative service in Ukraine makes 27 months for people without higher education and 18 months for people with higher education.
