MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax-AVN) - A bit more than one percent of Russian servicemen will receive their own flats this year, a spokesman for the Defence Ministry housing construction department told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.
The Defence Ministry will get a total of 21,300 flats this year, the spokesman said. 20,600 of them will be given to retiring servicemen, which is a top-priority issue in accordance with the law. That is why some 1,000 flats will be left for the 95,000 needy servicemen.
Servicemen have already received 15,600 flats, the spokesman said.
The housing construction has became cheaper due to the use of reserves, particularly, prepared construction sites. But this was almost fully compensated by an 18-percent increase in the costs of electric energy, transport and construction materials.
