Chief federal inspector does not believe in efficiency of talks with Chechen separatists

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Chief federal inspector for the south federal district Bislan Gantamirov opposes negotiations with Chechen separatists.

"We were, are and will be opponents of shifting terrorism into the political life of the country," Gantamirov told Interfax on Thursday.

"Representatives of the federal authorities are being misled about the intentions of terrorists to lay down arms and join a peaceful life," Gantamirov said. "The terrorists have different goals: they need time and a platform for their reanimation."

"If the disarmament negotiations start in the end, they must take place at the Khankala base in Grozny," he noted.
