MURMANSK. Oct 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Investigators from the Prosecutor General's Office on Thursday recovered several bodies of deceased crewmembers from the ninth section of the nuclear submarine Kursk, which is in a floating dock in Roslyakovo, Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov told Interfax. He supervised the investigation in the submarine.
"The recovery of the remaining bodies will continue as conditions improve," he said.
Before the bodies were carried out military investigators led by Chief Military Prosecutor Yuri Yakovlev entered the ninth section. They examined the site and recorded everything concerning the first body found.
According to a note from Lieutenant Captain Dmitri Kolesnikov, whose body was discovered during the operation in the fall of 2000, there should be 11 more bodies in the section. The note said that after the accident 23 sailors from the sixth, seventh and eighth sections moved to the ninth section. Twelve bodies were discovered and brought to the surface last year.
