Former chief of Stavropol territory police starts studying his criminal case again

STAVROPOL. Oct 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Alexander Volkodav, former chief of the Stavropol territory police department, and his lawyer Ivan Tatishchev will get down to studying Volkodav's criminal case again on Monday.

The studies were halted for 1.5 weeks due to Vokodav's illness. The Volkodav case is classified and its details are not disclosed by the prosecutor's office, Volkodav or Tatishchev.

The former police chief is accused of violating privacy using his position, violating secrecy of correspondence, power abuse, forgery and non-execution of court sentences.

Volkodav considers that his case was launched due to his professional activities, namely attempts to investigate illegal oil and oil products turnover, registration of cars not cleared by the customs with the road police, early promotion to higher ranks and other violations.

Volkodav and Tatishchev have studied five out of 11 volumes of the criminal case. It is unclear when the process will end for the law does not limit the time for the studying. According to Volkodav, several pages of those volumes can take a couple of minutes and some might take more than a day.
