Three cruise missiles removed from submarine Kursk

SEVEROMORSK. Oct 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Three Granit missiles have been removed from their containers on board the submarine Kursk.

The missiles were located on the Kursk's left side, sources in the Northern Fleet staff told Interfax on Monday.

They are now preparing to remove the remaining 21 missiles.

The submarine's sinking partially damaged the containers of three missiles on the right side, they said.

All in all, the Kursk held 24 top-secret Granit cruise missiles, which were designed to destroy large warships, first and foremost aircraft carriers.
