TBILISI. Oct 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian State Security Minister Vakhtang Kutateladze, during a meeting of the National Security Council on Wednesday, offered his resignation in the wake of an incident on Tuesday when more than 30 state security inspectors entered the office of the Rustavi 2 TV company to conduct financial checks.
President Eduard Shevardnadze told journalists after the meeting that he had accepted Kutateladze's resignation, as the conduct of his inspectors with regards to the Rustavi 2 company was incorrect.
Simultaneously, Shevardnadze criticized the Rustavi 2 staff, who defied a court decision to examine their financial operations.
He said no one planned to seize the company, as the company staff are asserting.
