Chief-of-staff gives personal standard to commander of North Caucasus district

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Oct 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Anatoly Kvashnin on behalf of the minister of defense gave a personal standard to Commander of the North Caucasus Military District Colonel General Gennady Troshev, a spokesman for the district headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

Among those present at the ceremony were heads of administrations of the Rostov city and region, as well as representatives of the republics and regions of the North Caucasus, retired servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces.

The heraldic tokens of the North Caucasus Military District, these are the emblem, standard of the district commander, badges "For Service in the Caucasus", have been adopted in accordance with the order of the minister of defense dated August 17, 2001.

The standard of the North Caucasus Military District commander is a square piece of cloth; the emblem of the Russian Armed Forces is on its front side, the emblem of the North Caucasus Military District is on its reverse side. The name of the commander and the term in the post will be engraved on a metal plate that will be placed on the standard shaft.
