MINSK. Nov 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The board of the border guard committee of the Union of Russia and Belarus will hold a session here on Thursday, a spokesman for the Belarussian border guard committee told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The session participants are expected to sign a directive on organizing protection of outer borders of the union for next year. The directive implies that both Russian and Belarussian border guards will secure their own outer borders operating in the interests of the union.
Moreover, Russian and Belarussian offiials will discuss the bill on the union's state border. The document was considered on Tuesday by the commission on security, defense and combating crimes in the the union's parliamentary assembly. It has yet to be discussed by chiefs of the Russian and Belarussian border guard agencies and members of the border guard committee board.
The session participants are planning to discuss and approve the statute of the union's border guard committee and to consider the current situation on the union's borders in the light of the U.S. anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan.
