ISLAMABAD/DUSHANBE. Nov 1 (Interfax-AVN) - A large-scale offensive against the Taliban will begin within the next few days, military representatives of the Northern Alliance told Interfax in Dushanbe on Thursday.
The Alliance is amassing troops in the area of Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif, they said. American mobile units are reconnoitering Taliban targets in cooperation with the Northern Alliance.
On Wednesday, warplanes of the United States and its allies raided Taliban targets in the vicinity of Kabul, Kandahar, Mazar-e Sharif and Baghram, as well as in the highlands along the frontline between the Northern Alliance and the Taliban. About 50 warplanes took part in the bombing and launched missiles.
