MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The Anti-Taliban Alliance in Afghanistan will not suspend hostilities during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month, First Secretary of the Afghan embassy in Russia Sahi Gairat has told Interfax.
Ramadan starts on November 17.
The decision was made due to the fact that a lull on the front is beneficial only to the Taliban, which may use the situation to regroup and reinforce their troops, the diplomat said.
The Taliban continues receiving firearms, ammunition and volunteers from Pakistan, Gairat said.
The Anti-Taliban Alliance may launch an offensive on Taliban positions before Ramadan, he said.
The offensive may start in various regions of Afghanistan, Gairat said.
