Delegation of Swedish infantry brigade to visit Leningrad military district

ST.PETERSBURG. Nov 2 (Interfax-AVN) - A delegation of the 19th infantry brigade of the Swedish Armed Forces will arrive in the Leningrad military district on November 5, a spokesman for the district headquarters told Inrterfax-MIlitary News Agency.

The visit's itinerary envisages a trip to a separate motorized rifle brigade stationed in the Pechenega garrison in the Murmansk region. The Swedish military are planning to study the brigade's life and service, organization of combat training at proving ranges where the live firing of regular weapons and practical driving of ordnance are to take place. The visit is supposed to end on November 9.

The exchange of military delegations has become a tradition, the spokesman said. A Russian officers group led by district commander Colonel General Valentin Bobryshev made an official visit to Sweden in spring this year. The group traveled to the Southern territorial defense district of Sweden, center of international peacekeeping training and a defense industry enterprise. Bobryshev also met Armed Forces Commander Johan Hederstedt in Stockholm.
