No arms trade agreements to be signed during Indian PM's visit to Russia

MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax-AVN) - No arms trade agreements are expected to be signed during Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's current visit to Russia, diplomatic sources told Interfax on Tuesday.

Individual arms trade agreements are being drafted, but these will not be signed during the current visit, they said.

Earlier, some of the media reported that agreements on leasing Russian TU-22 Blinder bombers and A-50 Mainstay AWACS planes to India were likely to be signed during the Indian prime minister's stay in Russia.

India is one of Russia's main arms-trade partners.
