TBILISI. Nov 8 (Interfax-AVN) - A session of the CIS Defense Ministers Council which was to take place in Tbilisi on November 23 to 24 has been postponed to late 2001 due to the political crisis in Georgia, a spokesman for the Georgian Interior Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.
The decision on the matter was made at the request from the Georgian party after receiving a corresponding notification from the Georgian Interior Ministry.
The Georgian leadership considers it purposeless to hold the session until a new government is formed and a new interior minister appointed.
The session participants are planning to discuss cooperation in the sphere of combating organized crime, drug trafficking, smuggling and terrorism, the spokesman said.
