Motorized riflemen of North Caucasus military district about to accomplish airborne training plan

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Nov 13 (Interfax-AVN) - A reconnaissance company of the 138th separate motorized rifle brigade stationed in Dagestan's Kaspiysk has completed planned parachute jumps, a spokesman for the North Caucasus military district headquarters said on Tuesday.

Another eight units of the 58th general army stationed in the North Ossetian autonomous republic and the 20th motorized rifle division stationed in the Volgograd region will complete the jumps this month, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency. They have made 13,000 out of 13,500 jumps planned for this year.

The program of personnel's airborne training has had several stages this year. The first stage featured training of specialists of units' airborne service and exams for the permission to prepare independently personnel and airborne equipment for landing. The second stage included repairs, examination and servicing of airborne equipment and taking of credits. Besides, the program featured tactical exercises with practical landing of personnel, armament and cargo.

According to the spokesman, the district trains airborne service specialists and personnel of airborne and vertical assault elements of motorized rifle units taking into account peculiarities of combat missions accomplishment in Chechnya. In addition to landing, the personnel practises firing from a helicopter, emergency escape from a MI-8 Hip helicopter in the air and on the ground, as well as evacuation of scouts with the help of a winch.
