MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Twenty out of 649 lieutenants who joined the Baltic Fleet this year after graduating from higher military educational establishments have taken their discharge, the fleet's HR department chief Rear Admiral Igor Zverev told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
The fleet suffers a serious lack of officers, Zverev said. "Only 65 percent of the needed number of lieutenants came to serve at the fleet this year," he added.
According to the department's statistics, every year 20 percent of young officers take their discharge within a year after graduation due to financial reasons. "The fleet does not get any new officers every fifth year," Zverev stressed.
