MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Interior Ministry plans to significantly reinforce Chechnya's interior bodies with native residents. Deputy Interior Minister Vladimir Vasilyev announced this in a speech at Tuesday's session of the Duma's commission on assistance to a political settlement and respect for human rights in Chechnya.
Vasilyev said the commission has actually decided to put "a native, a Chechen" in charge of the republic's police. It decided to do so "in principle," and now a specific candidate is being agreed upon, the deputy minister said.
The commission also decided to cut the number of outposts by 10% across the republic, and thereby "improve the work at the remaining outposts," he added.
