GROZNY. Nov 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Chechen Prosecutor Vsevolod Chernov has taken personal control over investigation of the latest attempt at initiating mass disorder in Grozny.
Several young men tried to stage a rally near the Chechen government office on Tuesday, demanding the release of six students of the Grozny State University detained by federals the day before, Chernov told Interfax-Military News Agency. A part of protesters "had the age and appearance that did not resemble those of students," he stressed.
The protesters were aggressive and beat up an official of the Chechen prosecutor's office who came out to talk to them. The official suffered injuries. Besides, the protesters tried to take a fire-arm from a guard of the government office who had to fire several warning shots in the air. The most aggressive participants in the rally were arrested.
