Moscow to host meeting of envoys from Collective Security Treaty member states

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax-AVN) - A regular meeting of envoys from the Collective Security Treaty member states is to be held in Moscow on Friday, a spokesman for the Collective Security Council told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The meeting is to be chaired by the council's Secretary General Valery Nikolayenko. Its principal objective is to pave the way for the conference of the Defense Ministers' Council scheduled for November 21, as well as for the session of the Foreign Affairs Ministers' Council to be held on November 28; the envoys are also to get ready for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the treaty's signing.

Nikolayenko is to deliver a report on the visit to Kazakhstan he made early in November and his meeting with Kazakh Security Council Secretary and Minister of Foreign Affairs Altynbek Sarsenbayev. He is also to make a report on the results of the negotiations with Armenia's Defense Minister and Security Council Secretary Serzh Sarkisyan held in Moscow on Thursday.

The participants in the meeting will also discuss military and technical co-operation within the framework of the Collective Security Organization and aspects of the military operation being conducted in Afghanistan.
