MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov has said he is certain that not all terrorist camps in Afghan territory have been destroyed at the moment, and the Taliban are putting up active resistance both in the northern and southern parts of the country.
"This resistance is very strong, since they are chiefly mercenaries, including those from Chechnya, and they know there will be no mercy for them," Ivanov said on the Vesti TV program on Sunday evening.
Talking about the anti-terrorist operation on the whole, Ivanov said that "it is in fact still in its initial phase."
"Osama bin Laden's foxholes are scattered around the globe - from the Philippines to Kosovo, including the Pankisi gorge in Georgia, where terrorists can feel quite comfortable," Ivanov said, adding that "nobody has even started dealing with them there yet."
