MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Emergencies Ministry said on Tuesday that the IL-18 Coot plane crash in the Tver region claimed the lives of 27 people, not 25 as it was reported earlier.
The plane had nine crew members and 19 passengers on board, a spokesman for the ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
As many as 137 people are involved in the rescue works at the site. They have found parts of 10 bodies. The works are supervised by Lieutenant General Yuri Kovalev, chief of the ministry's regional center.
The plane crashed near the Zakharovka village some 24km south-east of the town of Kalyazin in the Tver region on Monday. The plane disappeared from radar screens at 9:24 p.m. (1824 GMT). The plane left the town of Khatanga at 4:07 p.m. (1307 GMT) and was heading for Moscow. Crash reasons are not yet clear.
