PYATIGORSK, North Caucasus. Nov 22 (Interfax-AVN) - The trial over the case of 20-year old Alekhan Gudayev took place here on Thursday, a spokesman for the Stavropol territorial court told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Gudayev is accused of terrorism, organization of illegal armed formation, involvement of juvenile persons in criminal activities, illegal purchase, storage and transportation of automatic guns and explosive devices. Gudayev formed an armed group from teenagers of the Shali village in February this year. He personally organized the attack on an APC of the commandant's office company on March 6 and as a result two servicemen were injured. One of the grenades exploded in hands of a teenager who died at the site.
A week later Gudayev was detained by police officers and during the search in his car they found over 300kg of plastic explosives and a hand grenade with detonator.
State prosecutor Yuri Ivashov stressed the high danger level of Gudayev's activities aimed against the constitutional law of Russia. He also said that Gudayev who was amnestied in January this year did not stop his criminal activities and moreover formed a group of juvenile persons in the town of Shali. Basing on all those facts Ivashov claimed that Gudayev should be sentenced to 17 years imprisonment with staying in top-security prison.
Lawyer Paraskevov considered those facts to be not enough and demanded the absolute acquittal for Gudayev.
The court will make decision on November 29.
